SOTON’ UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL NHS TRUST CONSULTATION

without comments

Southampton University Hospital NHS Trust (Southampton’s teaching hospital) are wishing to engage as many local community and support groups as possible, to comment on their application to become a NHS Foundation Trust Hospital.

They currently own and manage Southampton General Hospital and the Princess Anne Hospital in the Hollybrook area. They also run a large hospice called Countess Mountbatten House on the outskirts of the city and offer services such as outpatient clinics, dermatology and maternity care at a range of locations.

NHS Foundation Trusts are free from central government control and instead are locally accountable to their members who are drawn from staff, patients and the local community. They are based on a model of local ownership and ‘mutuality’ similar to that of the Co-op and mutual building societies.
